Original hem preservation means shortening the jeans from the waist rather than the bottom — so the original factory hem, raw selvedge edge or chain stitch finish stays intact at the ankle. It requires removing the waistband, cutting from the top and reattaching everything. It costs more because it is significantly more labour-intensive, but for premium denim it is the only alteration that maintains the original character of the jean.
Yes — our tailors use appropriate stitch tension and needle weight for stretch denim specifically. Stretch fabric requires a different approach to rigid denim. A straight stitch on stretch fabric will break or cause the seam to twist after washing. We use techniques suited to the fabric type in front of us.
