Restyling instead of replacing
A dress that is one season out of date is rarely beyond saving. Shortening a hem, reshaping a sleeve or removing bulk from a skirt can turn a piece you avoid into one you reach for.
It is also the cheaper choice, and it keeps good fabric out of landfill — one of the reasons we started.

Good to know before your alteration
Do you alter bridal and evening gowns?
Yes. Allow a few weeks and plan for two fittings; bring the shoes and undergarments you will wear on the day.
Can a dress be made smaller?
Almost always. Taking in is simpler than letting out, since letting out depends on the fabric left inside the seams.
Do you work on abayas?
Regularly — length, sleeve width and shoulder adjustments are among our most common jobs.
Is there a private fitting room?
Every branch has private, staffed changing rooms for fittings.

I brought my trousers with a very tiny hole, asking them to fix it. Instead, they made the hole even bigger, completely ruined the trousers beyond repair, and then refused any compensation. They told me it was not their fault, that I can do whatever I want with the damaged trousers, and even suggested I take them to another tailoring atelier. Do I need to book an appointment or can I walk in?
Walk-ins are always welcome at all Dr. Alter locations. You do not need a prior appointment. Simply visit your nearest location, bring your garment and our tailor will assess the work and provide a quote on the spot.
How much do clothing alterations cost at Dr. Alter?
Alteration prices vary depending on the garment type and the work required. As a general guide, trouser hemming starts from AED 35, dress alterations from AED 60 and suit adjustments from AED 80. Your tailor will give you an exact quote after assessing your garment before any work begins.
Does Dr. Alter offer corporate alteration services?
